Antea Participaties provides risk capital to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Their focus is on younger companies with growth potential and a track record of several years. They also show interest in mature businesses in the expansion phase or companies facing a management buy-in/buy-out as a solution to succession issues of the CEO.
They consider both minority and majority stakes, as well as full acquisitions. Participation can be through capital expansion and/or a (partial) sale by existing shareholders. While they do not specialize in specific industries, they prefer sectors like Industry, Food, ICT/Media, and Business Services. Antea Participaties was founded in April 1999, and they manage assets of approximately €60 million. Over 300 Informal Investors participate in their funds, making Antea a market leader in the independent management of Informal Investors' participation funds in the Netherlands.
Antea Participaties' pool of participants consists of private investors with an entrepreneurial background, known as Informal Investors. Their active involvement enables Antea to provide real added value to the companies in which they invest. With the expertise and networks of these participants, they not only bring capital but also knowledge, skills, and engagement. These elements are particularly meaningful for small and medium-sized enterprises. In 2017, Antea closed its eighth fund, and in 2018, it was named the "Best Investment Company in the Netherlands" for the sixth time by the Venture Capital Guide. The name Antea comes from Greek mythology and means "The Queen of Dawn."
